People come to counselling for many reasons. You may want support during a crisis. You may feel stuck and want to understand the root causes of your problems to find new ways of dealing with them. It’s likely you want to change something in your life. The counselling process can open a door to being and experiencing life in a different way.
I am an empathic, supportive and intuitive psychotherapeutic counsellor who trained at Re-Vision in Integrative Transpersonal Counselling. (www.re-vision.org.uk). I offer confidential counselling on a short –term basis (6 – 8 sessions) or open -ended with regular progress reviews.
Everyone is unique and by working in an integrative way, I draw on different approaches including psychodynamic, Gestalt, person centred and transpersonal to meet your individual needs. I consider both the impact of your past and what’s happening in your life now. I pay attention to the connection between mind, emotion, body and soul and help you uncover what may not be obvious. Sometimes, if appropriate we may use drawing or do active imagination to help you access your unconscious. Connecting to your deeper parts can help you uncover hidden potential, see your blocks and experience life more fully. I truly believe that change and transformation are possible for everyone.
The relationship between counsellor and client is key to a fulfilling therapeutic experience. I offer an inclusive practice and welcome all aspects of you here, including those that may feel unacceptable or unspeakable. I will work with you at the pace and that feels right for you. By drawing on what’s happening in our therapeutic relationship, I help you deepen your understanding of your other relationship dynamics.
Areas I work with, but not limited to, include depression, generalised anxiety disorder, panic, stress, illness, insomnia, bereavement, loss, grief, low self -esteem, shame, suicidal ideation, self -harm, trauma, sexual abuse, domestic violence, relationship difficulties, infertility, life stage crisis, redundancy and work -related issues, neurodiversity, identity, sexuality, cross -cultural issues, ancestral trauma, spirituality.
In addition to my private practice, I work part -time as a counsellor for students at Ravensbourne University. Previous counselling experiences include working at Re-Vision’s Low Cost Counselling Service and at Cruse Bereavement Care. I am a Registered Member of BACP and adhere to their code of ethics.
I work consistently on my own process and am a trained yoga teacher, with additional trainings in yoga nidra, somatic awareness and mindfulness. With many years experience as a recruitment professional in the education and social care sectors, I have provided career –related counselling and coaching to a diverse client base. These experiences enrich my therapeutic approach.
