Mel Green

Diploma in Integrative Counselling, MBACP
Mel Green - Therapist & Counsellor

I am an Integrative counsellor and have completed my training at Regents University London and The Minster Centre. I continue my training at the Minster Centre where I am completing my MA in Psychotherapy. I have experienced my own transformative experience of therapy; this informs my practice as I have an appreciation of therapy as supportive, challenging and deeply rewarding.

Central to my approach is the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client. I offer a space where you will be listened to carefully and met with kind curiosity and compassion. Counselling is not a one approach fits all process; it is a unique experience that I as your counsellor gives careful attention to. Prior to training as a counsellor, I have worked in the NHS for 18 years as a registered nurse working in the field of physical and mental health. Most recently as a specialist nurse with young children and their parents and carers.

I have experience of and an interest in supporting people with bereavements and changes in health and wellbeing. I work in a trauma-informed way, which means I am aware of the ways trauma, can impact our holistic health. In counselling sessions, we will remain curious about how you are feeling in your body as well as your mind.

My approach includes exploring your experiences of relationships in childhood, which can support your understanding of yourself in relationships with others. Often in therapy a combination of current life events, past circumstances, and feelings about the future are explored. By doing this we can make sense of how these different jigsaw pieces fit together. My practice also has a philosophical approach that explores how we make meaning in our lives and acknowledges the struggles and joy this can create.

Central to my therapeutic ethos is my affirmative and compassionate counselling to the LGBTQ+ community. I practice in a way that does not judge difference outside of gender binaries and heteronormative sexuality and relationships.
