I am a fully-qualified psychotherapist and counsellor working face-to-face with clients at Hackney Therapy. I believe that therapy can help you gain insights into the difficulties you’re currently facing, better understand your motivations and behaviours, and enable you to bring about change to grow and find the way forward in your life.
My approach is integrative, meaning I draw on numerous ‘schools’ of therapy and psychological theory tailored to your needs at any given time.
I am American by birth – and a Londoner for more than two decades – and value an open, direct approach underpinned by genuine warmth and care. Our sessions are a non-judgemental place for you to bring all aspects of yourself – even those you may have previously kept hidden, whether consciously or unconsciously.
Alongside talk therapy, I also utilise creative modalities, including mindfulness, breathwork, visualisation, imagery, archetypes, dream exploration, journaling, and art materials. By bypassing the ‘rational’ mind, these creative practices can often unlock and powerfully shift things in ways that talk therapy alone cannot.
Above all, I cultivate and facilitate a safe space to explore your feelings, thoughts, and behaviours.
I welcome you fully and look forward to walking alongside you on your therapeutic journey.
My background:
I have experience working with a wide variety of physical and emotional issues including anxiety, panic attacks and depression, grief and bereavement, pregnancy loss, body image issues, loneliness, suicidal ideation, sexual assault/trauma, lack of motivation, low self-worth, and self-esteem. I have an interest in life transitions, such as pregnancy, divorce, midlife, and retirement.
I am LGBTQ+ friendly.
My previous work as a health journalist, writer, and magazine editor has given me a deep curiosity about people and their stories alongside a long-standing interest in wellness.
I continue to write about health and wellness alongside my work as a therapist and have an ongoing yoga and meditation practice.
