Neville Cairns - Therapist & Counsellor

My name is Neville Cairns and I’m an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist based in East London. I’m a registered member of the BACP and offer a safe, confidential space to explore whatever difficulties you might be facing.

As an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, I draw from a range of theoretical approaches including humanistic, psychodynamic and solution-focused theory to find the right fit for each individual.

I believe in a relational approach to the therapeutic journey which asserts that most problems in life are born out of our experiences in relationships with others. I support people to recognise the role relationships play in the shaping of daily life and I help people to understand patterns appearing in the thoughts and feelings they have toward themselves.

From time to time, we all go through difficulties. You may be experiencing anxiety, depression, panic attacks, anger, shame, bereavement, low self-esteem, or family and relationship issues. You may want to work through a current problem or gain an understanding of experiences from the past.

I provide a supportive, confidential and non-judgemental space and uphold the ethical standards of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I welcome people from all cultures and backgrounds, those identifying as LGBTQ+ and those wishing to explore new pathways in life.

Before qualifying as a counsellor and psychotherapist, I worked in social care for over seven years. During this time I supported people facing a broad range of issues, including anxiety, depression, acquired brain injury, borderline personality disorder, autism, learning disabilities, dementia and phobias. I have undergone personal therapy since 2016 which has been invaluable in working through my own life experiences and gives me a lens through which to view the therapeutic process as a client.

Taking the first step can often feel daunting. I offer a free phone consultation where we can discuss the therapeutic process and my way of working to see whether it feels like a good fit for you.
